Masonic Lodge Supports Local Palliative Care

Masonic Lodge Rising Sun Supports Palliative CareLeeds/Grenville—The Masonic Rising Sun Lodge (#85) recently presented a cheque for $1500 to support the Brockville and District Hospice Palliative Care Service (BDHPCS) based at Brockville General Hospital.

“We raised the money with something new—a skeet shoot,” says Lodge Senior Deacon Doug Miller. “It was a friend to friend invitation to spend an afternoon at the Golden Triangle Trap and Skeet Club just outside Brockville. It was very successful,” he adds. “We had 64 attendees and almost half tried the skeet shooting. It was a great day.”

Rising Sun Lodge, located in Athens, is part of the Masonic St. Lawrence District of 17 lodges in the region encompassed by Brockville, Lanark and Kemptville. Accepting the cheque (from left) are Joan Schwarze, BDHPCS; Joan McLaughlin, Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Executive Director; and Sherry Anderson, BGH Director of Palliative Care; from Lodge members Doug Miller, Senior Deacon; Fraser Duff, Worshipful Master; and Robert Ferguson, Treasurer.
