Finally Rain, Widespread Rain Expected Tonight Into Friday

RainBrockville - The rain that has been needed so badly around our region is finally here. Although it is not really good for the many events going on this weekend around our region, it is great news for area farmers.

Environment Canada say a low pressure system developing over the American Midwest today will be tracking to Southwestern Ontario Friday.  An area of rain is expected to form ahead of the low and could bring much needed rainfall to many areas of Southern Ontario which have seen drier than normal conditions so far this season.

Periods of rain are forecast to begin over Southwestern Ontario this evening then spread to south Central Ontario overnight and Eastern Ontario Friday.  Rain has already begun in the Brockville area Thursday morning.

There is still some uncertainty regarding total rainfall amounts.  However, current guidance indicates that 15 to 30 mm may be possible locally under heavier rain bands and embedded
thunderstorms.
