Gananoque - This past week, the Gananoque Youth in Policing Initiative students had a week full of fun. Throughout the week the students spent their time planning and organizing their end of summer fundraiser.
The students have been doing everything from brainstorming ideas to advertising the event. The fundraiser they have chosen to do for this year is a bike rodeo to be held on August 15th. The rodeo will include games and fun ways to learn about bike safety, as well as a barbecue and car wash by donation. All of the proceeds of this event will be going to the POP program of Gananoque.
The students spent one day going to local businesses around town to ask for donations to be given as prizes at the event. The generosity and positive feedback the students received was greatly appreciated by each and every one of them.
While traveling around town to the many businesses, tourists in need of assistance were always near. The students were stopped by a variety of people and asked all types of questions. The students were always positive and eager to assist anyone in need.
