Prescott - Runners and walkers of all ages took part in the third annual Katie's Run/Walk on Saturday morning in Prescott raising funds in celebration of former Prescott resident Katie Hadley's life by running or walking around Prescott in her honour.
Close to 50 people of all skill levels took to the streets of Prescott, running, walking and even biking, leaving from South Grenville District High School and following a course around the Town of Prescott finishing up back at the high school.
Proceeds from Saturday's event will go to the Katie Hadley Memorial Bursary which is awarded to a graduate involved in extracurricular athletic and academic programs at South Grenville District High School, where Hadley graduated in 1998.
Hadley died in the massive earthquake that struck Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010. This year would have been Katie's 33rd birthday. After her death the Katie Hadley Memorial Bursary was set up by her friends and family.
Organizers Christine Tremblay-Sloan and Becky Hubbard were pleased with the turnout on Saturday, which saw many first time participants, and they are hoping that the event continues to grow in the future.
Organizers appreciate any donations anytime during the year as there is no set time to help out financially. Anyone wanting to make a donation outside of Katie's Run/Walk event can contact Christine Tremblay-Sloan by calling SGDHS or e-mailing
